After a late cancellation last weekend, the Roverines were rearing to get back onto the pitch for their second game of the season. This weekend, they were up against Mount Albert-Ponsonby (MAP), hosting the ladies in blue at home at Michaels Ave Reserve. The last time the Roverines faced MAP was back in 2018 at Anderson Park. It was a tough game which resulted in a hard loss for the ladies, so they were eager to get a better result today.

It was an battle not only against MAP, but the wind. The Roverines secured the first goal of the day with Rachel S getting a swift boot into the back of the net. MAP equalized just minutes away from the half time whistle. Going into the second half, it soon became obvious that the wild wind was taking a toll on everyone's stamina and causing passing accuracy to be unpredictable.

The final few seconds of the game saw the Roverines almost clinch the winning goal, but the defense from MAP got the better of them and the game ended in a 1-1 draw. After a 6-0 loss in game one against Western Springs, the result was a welcome celebration.

Player of the Day went to Rachel S. Even when her boot fell apart in the first half forcing her to borrow another which was three sizes too big for her, it didn't stop this little energizer bunny from continuing to make an impact in the game. This makes two games running as POD, can she make it a triple next week against Tuakau?

This week, the ladies look to improve their fitness by adding a Roverines F45 class to their training regimen at the Zee Gym a.k.a Thu's home gym in Meadowbank. Good thing Rachel S is an F45 instructor. It won't be long before they will all be running rings around us. Good luck for the rest of the season, ladies!
